About The Oaksong Society

The Oaksong Society for Preservation of Way Cool Music has brought talented performers to greater Redding area audiences for 10 years.  Oaksongs co-founders Barry Hazle, Sr., his wife, Maline along with Bruce & Linda Wendt hosted the first concerts on the front porch of the Wendt family home on Raspberry Lane in Oak Run. Those modest beginnings brought about Gray Pine Farm; a venue boasting a covered 20' x 20' stage with professional lighting and sound system,
ably staffed by a dedicated team of volunteers.

Nestled among towering pines and abundant native shrubs, Gray Pine welcomes guests to a well-tended expanse of of lawn for concert seating, with ample room for lawn-chairs and picnic-blankets. (Bring your own chairs and blankets). A large, lighted dance floor flanks one side of the audience area, while the other is bordered by a small stream trickling through a natural landscape of shrubs and large cedar. Pine and oak trees separate the music meadow from the shaded dining tables and the food service area.  Summer concert dinners are prepared at a large smokehouse/grill nearby.

Oaksongs also presents an indoor concert series at Bernies Guitar, 3086 Bechelli Lane, Redding. Bernie has supported Oaksongs, as well as many other area events and organizations, for many years.  Bernie's Guitar provides a wide range of instruments, accessories and services to Redding area musicians. A talented musician himself, Bernie opens his Back Room to Oaksongs 2010-2011 winter concert series which runs October through May.

The society is an auxiliary of the Shasta County Arts Council, a member of the Greater Redding Chamber of Commerce the California Bluegrass Association and a proud supporter of North State Public Radio.

Oaksongs is a non-profit committed to building community through music. We provide a wide variety of live music concerts at affordable prices and endeavor to showcase local performers on stage whenever possible. We are in the beginning stages of developing a scholarship program to grant funds to deserving musicians of all ages to pursue their art as well as educational programs tailored to various age groups and skill levels. Thank you for your donations; we'll keep you updated on our progress and appreciate your continued support.
